THE ORANGEBURG LIBRARY LAUNCHES FESTIVITIES TO CELEBRATE THE 400th ANNIVERSARY OF HENRY HUDSON’S ARRIVAL IN 1609

ON SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 8 AT 2 :00 PM

Did you know that the year 2009 ushers in the 400th Anniversary of Henry Hudson’s arrival on the Half Moon sailing up the river that now bears his name? To celebrate this historic event, the Orangeburg Library has invited historian, Gretchen Weerheim to present a program “Reluctant Relationship: The Early Dutch and English Settlers of Rockland County on Sunday afternoon, February 8 at 2:00 PM.

Find out why the settling of Rockland County differed dramatically from the other English settlements, and why the hallmarks of trade and tolerance were rooted in our very beginnings.
